The improvement in grip may be down to the bigger strike surface on the new sole unit combined with a new tread design and cut. Brasher traditionally favour a slightly wider fit, with more volume, and the Brasher Supalite II GTX certainly follows this tradition. Although traditional in style the boot is surprisingly light on first test, and the new design instantly feels different from its predecessor with a closer fit particularly around the heel. The new sole unit gives surprisingly good grip on wet rock, despite a shallower tread. The improvement in grip may be down to the bigger strike surface on the new sole unit combined with a new tread design and cut.
The memory foam padded ankle gives both support and comfort, although it may feel a little high for those accustomed to a more modern styled mid-boot. Although thin leather is used it does have the advantage of being used in large panels which reduces the amount of stitching needed, and a Gore-tex liner takes care of waterproofing.
