Icebreaker Ladies Oasis Long Sleeve baselayer Reviewed

Recently, my partner, known as the G-Force, told me that I had too many baselayers. He said my baselayer drawer was ridiculously overflowing and surely I needed to throw a few out. I nearly spat out my mouthful of wine at the suggestion and corrected him, saying I needed more baselayers. In an outdoors woman’s life you simply can’t have enough baselayers. And so I gleefully added another Icebreaker Merino wool baselayer to my drawer and forced it to shut.

The range of Icebreaker baselayers is a pure delight. Lightweight, medium weight and heavier weight baselayers in short sleeved, long-sleeved, crew neck, round neck and leggings and pants and more.

Merino is the best fabric, in my opinion, for outdoors. activities Merino is naturally good at keeping you warm and also very breathable so it allows any sweat to escape. The best thing, however, is that it takes many days of wear to whiff. Unlike most man-made fabrics, Merino is naturally very good at dealing with body odours.

Icebreaker Ladies Oasis Long Sleeve Base Top Cherub

Thanks to the Great Outdoors Superstore for sending me another lovely Merino wool baselayer. The Oasis long sleeve baselayer is a great female fit and would be ideal as a base baselayer or as a mid-layer. I sometimes find that Merino is a bit itchy to wear before the first few washes but this lightweight 200g/m2 weight feels lovely against the skin. In summer I wear Merino baselayers as a standalone item, so colour is important. The cherub is a fab raspberry pinky/red shade. Meanwhile, in winter I layer a few together to form a very good insulation system. I won't set out to walk Scotland's mountians without wearing several merion baselayers!

The only problem is that Merino baselayers can be pricey. I expect that if I totted up the cost of all the baselayers in my drawer I could afford a new carbon fibre bike. They also sell well-priced men’s Icebreakers and leggings for women.
